Compared to the hub motor, the mid-drive motor offers several significant benefits.

Performance. Mid-drive motors are widely known for their superior performance and higher torque when compared to the traditional hub motor of similar power. The primary reason behind this is that the mid-drive motor drives the crank instead of the wheel, which helps to multiply its power and take better advantage of the bike's existing gears. To understand this better, consider a scenario where you are approaching a steep hill. You would change the bike's gears to make it easier to pedal while maintaining the same cadence.
